Before listeners can get access to your show, you must connect an email address. This allows Hiro to send listeners an access email from your email address.
How to connect your email account:
- Go to Creator Settings -> Email
- Add new email address
- Select the connection type:
- Sendgrid – use this if you have an existing Sendgrid account to deliver your emails
- Gmail – use this if you have a Gmail account or are using Google Workspace to deliver you emails
- SMTP – use this if you have Godaddy, Outlook, Bluehost or any other email provider
- Enter your details
- Sendgrid – create an key in Sendgrid and enter it in Hiro
- Gmail – click the “Connect your Gmail account” button and follow the steps
- SMTP – google your SMTP details for your hosting provider. Enter your email and your email password.
- Test the connection – IMPORTANT!! Click the 3 dots in the table row with your newly connected email and select “Test Connection”

SMTP – Check that your email is set up to allow SMTP with your email provider. For example, if you’re using GoDaddy, log into your GoDaddy account and enable SMTP sending for your emails to work properly.
Is your email hosting provider allowing SMTP?
If you are having problems with your email connection, it most likely is because you need to allow SMTP connections with your email.
How?
Check that SMTP is allowed on your email provider. For example, if you’re using GoDaddy, log into your GoDaddy account and enable SMTP sending for your emails to work properly.
The easiest way to see how to allow SMTP with your email provider is to google “how to allow SMTP with [your email provider name]”.
Then follow the steps provided to verify and allow SMTP connection with your email service provider.
If you were told to generate an “App Password” for Outlook, ignore that. Microsoft removed it. Connecting Outlook to Hiro now takes one click.
The old instructions no longer work. Microsoft switched off the setup that let apps sign in to Outlook with a password, and app passwords went with it. You do not need one any more.
Connect Outlook or Microsoft 365
This works with Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, and business email hosted on Microsoft, including addresses set up through GoDaddy.
Open your email settings
In Hiro, go to Settings → Email and click + Email.
Choose Outlook
Under Connection Type, select Outlook.
Set your From Name
This is the name your listeners see in their inbox. It defaults to your profile name.
Click “Connect your Outlook account”
Sign in with Microsoft and approve the request. We only ask for permission to send. We never read your mail.
Test it and save
Click Test Connection. A test email arrives within a minute. Then click Save. If this is the address you want your shows to send from, switch on Default email address before saving.
If Microsoft asks for admin approval
Some companies do not let staff approve outside apps on their own. If you see a message about needing admin approval, ask whoever manages your Microsoft account to approve Hiro, or use the alternative below.
Alternative: send through a relay
If you cannot complete the Outlook sign-in, you can send through a free relay service instead. Your business address still appears on the email and replies still come to your Outlook inbox.
Create a free Brevo account
Go to brevo.com and sign up, then verify your business email address. The free plan sends 300 emails a day.
Open SMTP & API in Brevo
You will see a server name, a login, and a key. Keep that page open.
Add it to Hiro as SMTP
In Hiro, go to Settings → Email → + Email and choose SMTP. Then fill in:

Click Test Connection, then Save.
If you use Gmail instead
Gmail connects the same way. Go to Settings → Email → + Email, choose Gmail, and sign in.
